Projectors
Key Considerations
As is the case with most office products, projectors have a few
important features which are crucial to understand before making
the right purchase.
Weight
The first feature that you should decide upon is projector weight.
If you're not sure of an ideal weight, you may want to ask yourself
if weight is even an issue for the projector. If your projector
is going to be mounted in a board room or carted from office to
office, how much the projector weighs isn't going to be a key consideration.
On the other
hand, if you plan on bringing your projector on sales pitches or
to conferences, weight will be critical to your future happiness.
While a pound or two may not sound significant, consider lugging
a projector from the office to a taxi onto an airplane, back in
the taxi and then over to the conference center. And don't forget
you're already responsible for your laptop, your notes, and any
other extraneous materials.
The lightest
projectors on the market are now tipping the scales just below five
pounds. While ultralights have gotten lighter and lighter in the
past three years, weights appear to have stabilized somewhat as
projectors are about as light as they're going to get for the time
being. Don't forget that the projector weight doesn't equal what
you'll carry through the airport. Be sure to ask about the total
weight of the package, including the carrying case and any other
peripherals that come with the projector.
